Ready to dig deeper into your faith? Our weekly 5-day devotionals are like a guided conversation with the sermon. We'll ask questions, share Bible verses, and help you uncover amazing things about God and yourself! There is a new set posted each Sunday after the service.
Day 1: The Weight of Our Sin
Scripture: Isaiah 53:5-6 (NIV) - "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all."
Reflection: The gruesome events leading up to Christ's crucifixion reveal the horrific consequences of sin. It's a picture of separation from God, a broken world, and the darkness that lingers within each of us.
Questions:
In what ways have you "gone astray" from God's design for your life?
What areas of your life feel heavy with the weight of sin or shame?
Action Step: Take time to honestly examine your heart. Name your sins to God, both the obvious ones and the hidden ones.
Prayer: "Dear God, thank You for exposing the weight of my sin. Forgive me for the ways I have hurt You and others. Help me to lay my burdens down and receive the lightness of Your forgiveness. Amen."
Day 2: The Sacrifice of Love
Scripture: John 15:13 (NIV) - "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."
Reflection: Jesus' death was not simply an unfortunate execution. It was a deliberate act of sacrificial love, the ultimate expression of God's desire to restore us to Himself.
Questions:
How does Jesus' sacrifice make you feel?
Can you think of times when someone has made a sacrifice for you?
Action Step: Consider a way to mirror Christ's selfless love. Is there someone you can serve, encourage, or offer forgiveness to?
Prayer: "Lord Jesus, thank You for Your incredible sacrifice. Teach me to love with greater generosity and selflessness. Use me to be a vessel of Your love in the world. Amen."
Day 3: The Power of the Resurrection
Scripture: Romans 6:4-5 (NIV) - "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his."
Reflection: The resurrection is not just a historical event; it's a transformative power available to us today. Through Christ's victory over death, we are freed from the stranglehold of sin and invited into a brand new life.
Questions:
What areas of your life feel dead and in need of resurrection?
What would a "resurrected life" look like for you in practical terms?
Action Step: Declare the truth of the resurrection over yourself. Identify one area of struggle and confidently assert, "Because Jesus is alive, I too can be resurrected in this area."
Prayer: "Holy Spirit, fill me with the power of the resurrection. Breathe life into the dead places of my heart and renew my hope. May Your resurrection power be evident in every aspect of my life. Amen."
Day 4: Living with Purpose
Scripture: Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) - "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Reflection: The resurrection infuses our lives with purpose. We are no longer slaves to sin, but God's instruments to make a difference in the world.
Questions:
What sparks passion and joy in your heart?
How could those passions be used to serve God and others?
Action Step: Brainstorm ways to use your unique gifts, talents, and experiences to bless those around you. Ask God to make you aware of the needs He wants you to address.
Prayer: "Dear Father, help me discover the unique purpose You have designed for me. Show me where and how I can make a difference in Your Kingdom. Give me the courage and passion to live my life to the fullest. Amen."
Day 5: Sharing the Hope
Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) - "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Reflection: The joy of the resurrection compels us to share it with others. As Easter people, we are carriers of life-changing hope to a world desperate for meaning.
Questions:
Is there someone in your life who needs to hear the Good News of Jesus?
What are some ways you can naturally share your faith in your everyday interactions?
Action Step: Pray for boldness and opportunity to share your story. Be prepared to speak of the hope you have found in Jesus.
Prayer: "Lord, make me a bold witness for You. Give me a compassionate heart for those who don't know You. Help me find the right words and opportunities to share the life-changing message of Easter. Amen."
