Acts 1:1-14 The Wait is Over 5-Day Devotions
DAILY DEVOTIONS
Ready to dig deeper into your faith? Our weekly 5-day devotionals are like a guided conversation with the sermon. We'll ask questions, share Bible verses, and help you uncover amazing things about God and yourself! There is a new set posted each Sunday after the service.
Day 1: Finding Hope in the Midst of Waiting
Bible Verse: "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes." - Psalm 37:7
Reflection: Waiting can make us restless. The world tells us to hustle, but true waiting before the Lord requires stillness. Instead of worrying, trust His timing and goodness.
Reflective Questions:
Where are you impatient right now?
What does it look like to actively trust God and wait?
Prayer: Father, calm my anxious heart. Help me trust Your timing even when I don't understand. Give me the patience to wait on you. Amen.
Day 2: The Power of the Holy Spirit
Bible Verse: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” - Acts 1:8
Reflection: The same Holy Spirit that empowered the early church is available to us. We can't witness or live boldly without His guidance and power.
Reflective Questions:
Where in your life do you need the Holy Spirit's power?
What does it look like to live a life led by the Holy Spirit?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill me, guide me, and empower me. Make me a bold witness for Your kingdom. Amen.
Day 3: Cultivating Character in the Waiting
Bible Verse: “...let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:9
Reflection: Waiting seasons are the perfect time to let God work on our character. Choose kindness, generosity, and honesty in the small things, trusting this builds us for bigger things to come.
Reflective Questions:
Where do you see weak points in your character that God might want to work on?
What daily choices can you make to grow stronger in character?
Prayer: Lord, help me see myself through your eyes. Give me the strength to grow and become who you want me to be, even when it's hard. Amen.
Day 4: Excellence as a Form of Worship
Bible Verse: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters…” - Colossians 3:23
Reflection: Everything we do can be an act of worship. Excellence isn't about being perfect, but about honoring God in our work, big or small.
Reflective Questions:
Where can you show more excellence in your daily life?
How can you change your mindset about seemingly mundane tasks?
Prayer: Lord, show me the beauty and value in every task you give me. Help me to do everything with excellence, as an offering to you. Amen.
Day 5: The Promise of Transformation
Bible Verse: “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” - 2 Corinthians 3:18
Reflection: Our waiting seasons aren't pointless. God is transforming us. The more we seek Him, the more we become like Him.
Reflective Questions:
How have you noticed yourself changing through your time with God?
What are you still waiting on, and how can you open yourself up to continued change?
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for shaping me and transforming me day by day. Give me the hunger to know you more. May I reflect your glory always. Amen.
