555 Devotional: Serving Like Royalty (Mark 10:41-45)

This week, we are reflecting on what it truly means to serve like Jesus. In a world that often celebrates power, status, and recognition, Jesus flips the script, showing us that greatness in God’s kingdom is found in humility and service. Our passage in Mark 10:41-45 reminds us that Jesus didn’t come to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. As His followers, we are called to do the same.

When James and John asked for the highest positions of honor, their request stirred jealousy and competition among the other disciples. Jesus contrasts the world’s definition of greatness with the kingdom’s. In the world, rulers “lord it over” others, seeking power and control. But in God’s kingdom, greatness is redefined.
