EASTER AT RISE CHURCH!

Acts 23 Trusting in God's Protection

DAILY DEVOTIONS
Ready to dig deeper into your faith? Our weekly 5-day devotionals are like a guided conversation with the sermon. We'll ask questions, share Bible verses, and help you uncover amazing things about God and yourself! There is a new set posted each Sunday after the service.

Monday

Even when the world feels like it's spinning out of control, God remains our refuge and strength. In the midst of the Sanhedrin's uproar and conflicting agendas, Paul stood firm in his faith and trust in God's sovereignty.  Like Paul, we can find peace and courage in knowing that God is ultimately in control, even when things seem chaotic.

Scripture: Psalm 46:1 (NIV) – "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Question for Reflection:

  • How can I cultivate a deeper trust in God's sovereignty, especially during times of chaos and uncertainty?

Prayer: Lord, when the world around me feels chaotic and uncertain, remind me that you are my refuge and strength. Help me to find peace in your presence and to trust in your ultimate control. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Tuesday

Paul's response to the high priest Ananias reminds us to respect authority, even when those in power are imperfect. We can honor God's design for leadership while still standing up for truth and justice.

Scripture: Romans 13:1 (NIV) – "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."

Question for Reflection:

  • How can I balance respect for authority with my commitment to biblical truth and justice?

Prayer: Lord, help me to honor those in authority, even when they are flawed. Give me the wisdom to discern when to speak up and the courage to stand for what is right. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Wednesday

Paul's strategic response to the Sanhedrin's division teaches us to look for opportunities even in the midst of opposition. God can use our challenges to advance His Kingdom and bring glory to His name.

Scripture: Romans 8:28 (NIV) - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Question for Reflection:

  • How can I view challenges and opposition as opportunities for God to work in and through my life?

Prayer: Father, help me to see the opportunities hidden within my challenges. Give me the wisdom to respond in ways that honor you and advance your Kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thursday

God can use anyone, even those who seem insignificant or on the sidelines, to fulfill His purposes. Like Paul's nephew, we can play a vital role in God's story by being courageous and standing up for what is right.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:27 (NIV) - "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong."

Question for Reflection:

  • How can I be an "unexpected hero" in God's Kingdom, using my unique gifts and opportunities to serve others and share His love?

Prayer: Lord, use me as an instrument of your peace and love. Empower me to be courageous and to step out in faith, even when it feels uncomfortable or risky. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Friday

Bethany Hamilton's story reminds us that even in the face of tragedy and loss, God's protection and provision are real. Like Bethany, we can find strength and hope in our faith, even when the waves of life crash around us.

Scripture: Isaiah 43:2 (NIV) – "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

Question for Reflection:

  • How can I hold onto hope and trust in God's protection, even in the midst of life's storms?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your promise to be with me always, even in the darkest valleys. When the storms of life rage around me, help me to fix my eyes on you and to trust in your unfailing love and protection. In Jesus' name, Amen.
