Acts 8 Scattered and Thriving 5-Day Devotions
Ready to dig deeper into your faith? Our weekly 5-day devotionals are like a guided conversation with the sermon. We'll ask questions, share Bible verses, and help you uncover amazing things about God and yourself! There is a new set posted each Sunday after the service.
Day 1: Scattered but Not Broken (Acts 8:1-4)
Scripture: Acts 8:1-4
The early church faced immense persecution, but it didn't stop the spread of the gospel. Instead, it fueled it. God used their pain to propel His purpose.
Questions:
- Have you ever faced a setback that felt like it was ruining God's plan for you?
- How might God be using your challenges to expand His kingdom?
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for being sovereign even in the midst of chaos. Help me to see Your hand at work in my trials and trust that You will use them for good. Amen.
Day 2: Leaving Comfort Zones (Acts 8:5-8)
Scripture: Acts 8:5-8
Philip went to Samaria, a place of conflict and tension, and brought the good news of Jesus. God's power was evident through miracles and healings, and the city was filled with joy.
Questions:
- Are there any "Samaria's" in your life – places where you feel uncomfortable or hesitant to share your faith?
- How can you step out of your comfort zone and be a witness for Christ, even in challenging situations?
Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to go where You call me, even if it's outside my comfort zone. Fill me with Your joy so that I can share it with others. Amen.
Day 3: The Power of the Spirit (Acts 8:9-17)
Scripture: Acts 8:9-17
Reflection: Philip's ministry wasn't about his own abilities but about the power of the Holy Spirit working through him. Simon Magus's story is a reminder that true faith is about a changed heart, not a desire for power.
Questions:
- Are you relying on your own strength to serve God, or are you allowing the Holy Spirit to empower you?
- What areas of your heart need to be transformed by God's power?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill me afresh with Your power. I surrender my own efforts and ask You to work through me to bring glory to God. Amen.
Day 4: Divine Appointments (Acts 8:26-35)
Scripture: Acts 8:26-35
The Ethiopian eunuch's encounter with Philip wasn't a coincidence; it was a divine appointment orchestrated by God. God sees the seeking hearts and provides the answers they need.
Questions:
- Have you ever had a "divine appointment" where you felt God guiding you to share your faith with someone?
- Who in your life might be searching for answers and needs to hear the good news of Jesus?
Prayer: Father, open my eyes to see the divine appointments You have prepared for me. Give me the words to speak and the wisdom to share Your truth with those who are seeking You. Amen.
Day 5: The Ripple Effect of Obedience (Acts 8:36-40)
Scripture: Acts 8:36-40
The Ethiopian eunuch's baptism wasn't the end; it was the beginning of a new life in Christ. He returned to his country filled with joy, ready to share the gospel with others.
Questions:
- How has your faith impacted the people around you?
- What steps can you take to be a more intentional witness for Christ in your sphere of influence?
Prayer: Lord, let my life be a living testimony to Your love and grace. Use me to spark a ripple effect of faith that reaches far and wide. Amen.
